Day 5: to Helags
We woke up and as Jessica had told, it was lovely weather outside. We had breakfast, packed all our stuff and said bye to our friends. Out on the road and then turn left, up on the road over Flatruet. This is the highest situated road in Sweden 975 meters above sea level. It is often closed during winters as the snow covers the road with with several meters in height. When the road is closed one must drive aound on other lower situated roads, that is a detour of 200 kilometers! As a good tourist we stopped at the stone at the to and took some photos, relaxing and signing our very own stone.
We kept on driving down to Ljungdalen, turned left and then came to the end of the road, where we parked the Mini on a parking lot, payed for a three days ticket and began to walk on the path leading to Helags. We were not alone, but everyone we met were very friendly and it was a lovely weather. We stopped at a lake and cooked some lunch, everything in a very lazy tempo.
Several hors later did we arrive at the Helags cabins. We bought an icecream each and walked for another kilometer before we found a good spot for our base camp. Nice views, a stream just beside an without sight of the cabins, we felt like we were out in the middle of nowhere and that was almost true. We pitched our tent and after some food we went into to our sleeping bags and then spent the evening reading our books that we had brought. And I think that all of us was thinking about tomorrows adventure.
