| Day 6: up on Helags We woke up in the tent, the sun was shining and a lovely weather waited for us outside. We made some breakfast (porridge as usual on hikes) and then tried to get a weather report on the radio/GPRS connected cell phone. We found out it was going to be cloudy and eventually rain later on the day, so we packed our food package for the day and set off, aiming for the top of Helags 1797 meter above sea level. As it was a bit windy from southeast, we decided to climb the northeast edge of the old (vulcano?) crater. We met another family, also on their way to the top. They had a son in a similar age to Torkel so it became some kind of competition to get to the top first. We had to have a serious talk to Torkel to calm him down and to keep our group together. It was a bit steepy in the beginning but as we come up on the edge it was fairly easy to get to the top. In about 4 hours we managed to get to the top, about 700 meter higher than the tent. Of course did we stop several times to drink and eat (chocolate...) on our way up. On the top we had a lovely view of the surroundings, we even saw the norwegian mountains across the border. We wrote our names in the book, had some water and chocolate and then headed down again. It began to be cloudy so we wanted to be a bit closer to the tent before we cooked some lunch, just in case of bad weather coming in quickly. After a nice lunch at about 1500 meters height we kept on walking, relatively close to the edge, towards the tent. We met some birds, Ripor, and even a reindeer calf. After totally about 7 hours from when we started the adventure of today we were back at the tent. We took some water, had some chocolate and then washed ourselves the small creek just beside the tent. Then we got into the tent, into the sleeping bags and grabbed our books and then we were reading our books for the wole evening. One after another we fell to sleep after a great day.
